COVID-19 Update
As part of our ongoing customer support and innovations we have expanded our online education to include two types of webinars. The first being “Office Hours” which brings a short presentation on a specific color, appearance or physical test topic then is followed by participant questions and discussion. The second is our traditional “60 Minutes” webinars which are a full presentation with Q&A at the end.
The schedule can be found here with each date being a hotlink to registration.
Predict Color Stability with New Technology & More Accurate Results
Predicting color stability has been an ongoing challenge and the new BYK-Gardner spectro2guide spectrophotometer has been proven as an effective instrument for the textile market. Meeting ASTM E-1164 and E-991 standards, offers a new prediction of color stability by measuring with a fluorimeter of monochrome illuminations.
“Our spectro2guide is getting great feedback in working with textile operations, specifically QC,” states Jim MacDonald, business line manager for BYK-Gardner USA. MacDonald continues, “With the built-in fluorimeter and the prediction of what a color will look like over time.”
The spectro2guide combines a spectrophotometer with a fluorimeter which opens up new perspectives to control color harmony and guarantee color stability. The new index, Fl is a measure for the amount of fluorescent light and is important to know as sunlight exposure can cause fading. In addition, the new Ezero index predicts the color change of a sample pair after the fluorescence has degraded.
Key benefits include:
Fluorescent range (340-760 nm) is measured by a true fluorimeter as opposed to correlating to a UV standard
Stable UV light source – 10-year warrantied LED light source with guaranteed measurement consistency over the life of the instrument
More accurate color values due to LED-dependent UV output
Benchtop consistency and stability in a portable device
Predict color stability with new fluorescent indices Fl and Ezero
Meets ASTM E-1164 and E-991 standards
Indices include E-313 as well as legacy D-1925, Berger Whiteness and more
