I am a 2021 graduate from Rockingham County High School in Reidsville, North Carolina. I will be attending North Carolina State University in the fall to major in engineering. I plan to pursue a career as an engineer working to reduce the environmental impacts of the textile industry. I am extremely grateful to be the recipient of the NCTO Paul T. O鈥橠ay Scholarship as it will help enable me to fully focus on academics throughout college. With the help of this scholarship, I hope to graduate early and begin making an impact either through research within a graduate studies program or through my career.
I would like to begin by expressing my immense gratitude for this opportunity. I am a Simpsonville, South Carolina native, majoring in Material Science and Engineering at Clemson. In my free time I like kayaking on Lake Hartwell, volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, and, of course, going to Clemson football games. Although I originally entered university with a vague and unpolished idea of what I wanted to do, I have refined my goals over the course of my time here and I believe I have found my passion.聽 I joined Clemson as a Chemical Engineer, but I abruptly realized that it was not the career path for me. I enjoy Materials Science and Engineering because it is amazing to see what the world is made of and its widespread applicability as a major is impressive. I am currently participating in a co-op with AFL Telecommunications. My first rotation I worked with other process engineers on the extrusion of polymers. I love the hands-on experience I acquired and could see myself as a process engineer in the future. Plastics are probably my favorite material to work with because of their versatility. I hope to work with nylon particularly because it was the first polymer I synthesized in my organic chemistry lab, so it is somewhat sentimental in that my passion for materials began to grow. Because of my co-op and changing my major sophomore year, I am set to graduate after five years of college. My in-state scholarships do not cover all of my tuition costs, and I will eventually lose eligibility to keep them past the four-year deadline. The 秀色直播Foundation Woodruff Textile Manufacturing Scholarship helps me so much because I can now save some money to finish my degree. I would like to reiterate my gratitude for this incredible opportunity to pursue my education without worrying about making ends meet.

I am currently a fashion design student at the Fashion Institute of Technology. I am so honored to receive this scholarship and it will help me to continue my fashion studies. In the future, I would love to be involved with garment and textile production!
